How do I bring a complaint to the Ombudperson?

Contact the Ombudsperson by email at ubclawombudsperson@hotmail.com. You can either include your complaint in the email or ask to set up a different time where you can meet to discuss your complaint.
The 2011/2012 Ombudsperson is Jeanette O’Sullivan.
What does the Ombudsperson do?
The Ombudsperson has 2 main functions:
1) Organizing the Legal Buddy Program, where 1st year students are matched to an upper-year Buddy to help them settle into the the law school.
2) Investigating complaints from law students pertaining to:
- the LSS, SAC, AIC, or any other student group within the school;
- the faculty or administration;
- discrimination and harassment within the law school;
- the summer article and articling process;
- academic appeals;
- exam schedule conflicts;
- grade appeals; and
- any matter deemed relevant by the Ombudsperson.
All complaints brought to the Ombudsperson remain CONFIDENTIAL. That is, the Ombudsperson may discuss your complaint with the individual/group you raise concerns about, however, your name is never disclosed to anyone.
